DSL internet service is provided free-of-charge with your apartment at The Quarters.  To enable your service you must do the following:

1. Hardware:

Your computer must have an Ethernet card installed.  Most new machines already have a built-in Ethernet card.  If you do not have one in your computer, it is easy to purchase one and install it or have it installed.

2.  Configuring your computer

Mouse to Start then Settings then Control Panel

On Control Panel click the Network icon

Under the Network icon look for a connection reading:

 TCP/IP -> ****** Ethernet ******

The * indicates words not common to the variety of Ethernet cards.  Highlight this connection and then click Properties on the menu to change the settings associated with your Ethernet card.

Select the tab for IP address.  The server will assign you a dynamic IP address.  To enable this, select the option that reads Server assign or Obtain automatically.  You will not need to complete information for  Subnet mask or Gateway.

Last, select the tab for DNS Configuration.  Click the radio button for Enable DNS.  For the blank Host, create a name of your choosing.  For Domain, enter nts-online.net.  For the DNS Server Search Order, add 216.167.161.35 and 216.167.161.36.  Remove all DNS numbers at this time.

Click out of this menu by clicking OK on both screens.  Your machine will ask you to restart.  Allow your machine to restart and your DSL service should work.
